The main function of any museum is to educate the public in regard to history and the people that helped shape it. South Africa’s annual national science festival, SciFest Africa is set to take place from 16 to 22 April 2008 in beautiful and historic Grahamstown. SciFest Africa will feature more than 500 events including interactive exhibitions, workshops, lectures, educational theater, a soap box derby, field trips, laser shows, science Olympiads, high school quiz shows, tours, a hobbies fair and a FilmFest.

Every year hundreds of thousands of people converge on the small university city of Grahamstown for
the countries biggest annual celebrations of the arts. The Grahamstown National Arts Festival runs from
the end of June to the beginning of July for between 8 to 10 days and is the most important event on the
South African cultural calendar. Situated roughly 130 km from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, people
come from all corners of the globe to participate in and to enjoy the festival.
